The Ultimate 5-Day Bali Family Holiday Itinerary (Kid-Friendly!)

Our fun and easy 5-day Bali family itinerary, perfect for school holidays. Discover the best kid-friendly activities, from Waterbom Park to the Monkey Forest.

Planning a family trip to Bali? A 5-day adventure is the perfect amount of time for a fun-filled, action-packed holiday that will create lasting memories for the whole family, especially during a school break.

The key to a successful family trip is to minimize travel time and maximize fun. This 5-day Bali family itinerary is designed to do just that, with a single home base to avoid the hassle of packing and unpacking every few days.

Pro-Tip: The “Single-Base” Strategy

With only 5 days, we recommend staying in one central location. Kuta or the neighboring Legian area is an ideal choice. It offers a wide range of family-friendly hotels (many with kids’ clubs), it’s very close to the airport, and it’s packed with activities, restaurants, and shops.

The 5-Day Family Fun Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Splash! Arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS) and take a quick and easy transfer to your Kuta hotel. After checking in, head straight for the ultimate family attraction: Waterbom Bali. It’s consistently voted one of the best waterparks in Asia, with dozens of slides and pools for all ages, from toddlers to teens (and brave parents!). It’s the perfect, easy win for your first day.

Day 2: Beach Day & Beginner Surfing Spend the morning at Kuta Beach. The waves here are gentle, sandy-bottomed, and perfect for beginners. Sign the family up for a 2-hour beginner surf lesson—it’s a fantastic, safe, and fun way for kids (and adults!) to learn a new skill together from a local instructor. In the afternoon, relax and recover from your surfing efforts at the hotel pool.

Day 3: Ubud Cultural Day Trip Hire a private driver for a full-day trip to Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart. The first stop is the Sacred Monkey Forest. Your kids will love watching the hundreds of playful monkeys in their natural jungle habitat (just hold onto your sunglasses and belongings!). After a family-friendly lunch in Ubud, head back south, stopping at Tegenungan Waterfall—a big, beautiful, and easily accessible waterfall—for a great photo-op.

Day 4: South Coast Culture & Sunset Take another day trip, this time to the southern Bukit peninsula. In the late afternoon, visit the spectacular Uluwatu Temple, perched on a dramatic cliff. The kids will love spotting the resident monkeys. Stay for the famous Kecak Fire Dance at sunset; the “chak-a-chak” chanting and exciting fire show is captivating for all ages. For dinner, finish the day with a fun, toes-in-the-sand seafood feast at Jimbaran Bay.

Day 5: Souvenirs & Departure Enjoy a final swim in the hotel pool. Do some last-minute souvenir shopping at the Kuta Art Market for local crafts or at the Beachwalk Mall for international brands. Afterward, it’s just a short, stress-free drive to the airport for your flight home.
